To brighten up this dreary day

Little celebrations this past week,
Chinese New Year..
National Chocolate Cake Day

And a favorite quote...

Ralph Waldo Emerson
"To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived---this is to have succeeded."

I'll be back soon to post some garden plans..have you decided what you'll grow this year?

New reader :) I delighted in playing around in the dirt for the first time last year, and planning to double what I did last year: more tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, peppers, raspberries, and strawberries. I am *so* looking forward to my delicious lilacs arriving in late May!

I always get a little excited when I find a fellow Jerseyan blog to identify with. We live at the top of the Jersey shore. We were just working on the plans for this years gardens. You will have to see a few of my previous posts about the gardens when you have a minute. I will be coming back to read through yours. Nice to meet you.

I'm new to NJ and never been to the NJ shore! I spend a lot of time in the Cherry Hill area - partly for work, and partly because there are so fantastic, dog-friendly nature walks in that area. Before moving here, I thought all of NJ was just a big, foul-smelling chemical dump. What a surprise to learn that it boasts some great nature trails, replete with long-legged blue herons!
