A Vegetable Garden at the White House

An idea whose time has come..

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/20/dining/20garden.html?em

The article says they will not be growing beets, as the President doesn't like them,
but we'll grow another row here in our corner of the Garden State..
just in case he changes his mind. ;-)
I never liked beets until we grew our own. There is nothing like it!
Now, the Obama's have no real experience with a garden, and they are giving it a try,
how about you? Yes, I realize they have a staff, but your lack of staff should not hold
you back. Just make it small enough to handle, we started out quite small.
Maybe this week I will post those old photos of our first garden here.
We just get bigger most every year. Because we just have to grow the Purple Haze
carrots too!

Is that a new picture of Pumpkin on the masthead, or am I nuts?

I am THRILLED about the White House garden! THRILLED!!!

Great, huh?! I was also interested to see that they took on a smaller "family sized" garden-a better example for the average backyard grower, than if they'd done a larger acre or more like some were suggesting.

If I ever get my beds in, I'll also be growing purple haze- what a cool carrot!

Ohhh. I just love that she is so down to earth...

I have had a home garden since birth... I couldn't live without my own tomatoes, herbs, eggplants, peppers or chives...

There is nothing like 'em.
