Blogging Issues

I am having them. These are possibly Kate induced,
and not "Blogger" issues, OK, those who know me in
real life, know these are entirely "Kate" issues.lol
I take pics, I write posts, I just can't get them all together.
It is possibly related to my inability to write a sentence
without using a comma. ;-)
I am trying to get my act together to post about the food growing in
my backyard, as well as the furniture I started painting in my backyard,
and some really yummy vintage finds.
But it is hot and humid here in my corner of the Garden State and I have a
pile of library books to read, a schoolroom to reorganize, and the attention span
of a toddler. I hope you are all doing well, wherever you all are.
I promise to be over soon with my iced coffee in hand...soon.

Retire Ronald McDonald

I have so much to do today, and so much to blog about, but all that must be
pushed aside to ask for some help today. That's right we need your help.
My friends over at Corporate Accountability International called me last night
asking me to make a phone call. I did. I am asking you to do the same.
If you are concerned with the rising obesity in America's youth (ok all of us)
if it just ticks you off that McDonald's lure our kids in with toys to a possible lifetime
of health issues , call. There is more info here
Retire Ronald and here
Value the Meal.
They were very polite when I called, please behave in kind. ;-)"

Happy Birthday to Me

Edited to add B-Day photos....
Yes, it's my Birthday!!! It is a glorious day in the Garden State..blue skies, sunshine, cool enough
to work in the garden, but warm enough to sit and do nothing.
Farmer Dad surprised me with a depression glass pitcher in amber..with
some weird colored flowers in it this morning.
My brother-in-law and his wife and daughter

stopped by for pitcher of bloody marys, they gave me a gorgeous pair of earrings as well and the kids played outside all day except for when
they took a ride to buy my b-day cake with Farmer Dad.I took the time to sit with a favorite book and a cup of tea I have been swamped with love over here, as the e-mails and phone calls keep coming..heaping birthday wishes and love all over me.
I will post pictures soon from today, in the meanwhile..here are some pics from around our little corner of the Garden State from this week....
There is one piece of chocolate cake left...

sitting on his vintage melmac I scored off freecycle....so cheery to me!

Snow

You know how I love my trees... Farmer Dad and Princess built an igloo

and they have expanded it every single day since..I have to admit, I spent most of the time watching the snow from inside

Princess and her friends helped clear the fallen limbs

Farmer Dad keeps making the igloo bigger....

We ordered seeds, they came in..I promise to post about it all soon.

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.
We were just us three this year and it all went pretty smoothly.Farmer Dad picked some nice fresh carrots in the morning..
I roasted them along with beets, onions, and butternut squash also all grown here.
We served them along with our turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, dressing, cranberry sauce,
brussel sprouts , rolls and gravy. Desert was pumpkin pie
and vanilla ice cream for the Princess who does not like pie. Here I am making a plate for the little one, and here's what my plate looked like as
I sat down to eat...

I hope your holiday was lovely and want you all to know how much I
appreciate you being in my life! Here is some more autumnal goodness
that I am thankful for...

Time has been flying by here in our corner of the Garden State
and I have had very little blog time. :-(
I am trying to get back into the swing of things and can't wait to visit you all and see what you have been up to.
Happy Thanksgiving ((big hugs)) KateinNJ
