Weekend in the garden

A little time spent watching the flowers grow..with this at my side...

some weeding..

and mulching..

and watching the "running of the Princess"...

we even found time for hanging out with our neighbors....

I hope your weekend was at least as good.

The Groundhog and the damage done....

Can you hear the whine of Neil Young?
Yes, I'm feeling a bit abused by the whole
groundhog experience.He chomped off the tops of most of the peppers






and ate all the tasty new lettuce. It looks like he left more in
these pictures than it does in person.
We brought in some professional security...


So far it has worked. We are ready to re-think it when necessary.Perhaps my friend
Zilla has the right idea, and it is truly time for the plastic explosives.;-)

Berry Picking

Here are some pictures of my very best berry picker.
The hard work of "training" Princess to walk on the paths only,
only pull weeds, remove rocks, pick only ripe fruit and veg,
don't trample the plants, toss balls into the garden,etc. has all paid
off big time! At age 5, she is now a willing and able helper in the garden.
She waters, weeds, picks..it is a delight!
We knew this day would come eventually.

A bit of yard work on Mother's Day weekend

we moved a few perennials around and divided some,
only makes it more obvious that others need it as well
of course, but it is a start. Here are some random photos
of the yard before and after said chores....

What's growing on?

I know..that is lame. Here are some views from around our
little piece of the Garden State....
I am so happy to see all the ends of the fig tree greening up
and leafing out! It helps get through this never warm enough or sunny long enough part
of the year.Yes, I know February is colder, but I can handle it then. I want warm sunshine
in May, not cold rain. It looks like rain again today too which is unfortunate, because Farmer Dad
had planned to go work at the community garden plot.
We are still getting asparagus..
