The cherries are coming

See the big tree in the middle? My Princess is right under it...Need to look closer? Can you see them? Not all of them are red yet, but the ones that are..

They are beautiful!

They are so delicious too...if you can reach them...

If the birds and squirrels get to them before we do, well, we'll just hope we get some plums first. ;-)

The plum is a dwarf, and we can all reach up and pick from it, the cherry was here way before us, and

it is not a dwarf variety. It is also on it's "last legs" according to our arborist, but neither of us can ever

bring ourselves to cut it down. Yes, it shades the tomatoes and such, but it is so pretty, and we always have high hopes that we will get to the cherries first. When we do, it is so worth it!

The Luck of the Irish

Spring is just around the corner... Farmer Dad was talking about taking out our cedar trees. I'm hoping he won't.

Princess loves picking out what kind of flowers to plant in her first pair

or rain boots. You can hardly see the frogs anymore. :-(

Farmer Dad moved my Grandfather's old water fountain where the

little cherry tree was (it did not make it through the winter).

We are planning on getting a solar pump for it.

We all spent the last two afternoons raking and weeding the yard.

Princess and I picked up some flowers and seed potatoes and asparagus

and peas. We also got a replacement cherry tree.

Normally I would have planted my peas today, but I didn't have any.

That is why we have Saturdays. ;-)

Spring is just around the corner...

Long Time No Post

Spring is upon us here in the Garden State, and this year finds us busier

than ever! This weekend was the local Ag Day, and the weather is heating up!

We have a decent sized garden here in our backyard, and Farmer Dad

maintains a garden plot at a local college's Community Garden as part of their Organic

Garden Club. This year, Princess and I will have a small (10'x10') plot in our town's

Community Garden as well. It is right near the library, so pretty convenient for me. ;-)

Last night Farmer Dad and I went up to help with the "Fence Raising" and start a flower

bed around the new sign the town put in for us..it looks so official! It was great!

So many local companies have donated materials and it looks like it will be a wonderful season!

I have some photos from around our yard, although I completely forgot to bring my camera last night to the Community Garden.Have I told you our cherry trees are in full bloom?

It's Cherry Blossom Time here in our little corner of the Garden State!

We've been eating asparagus every night for dinner!

Life is a Bowl of Cherries!

Or at least a basket full.
The three of us picked golden raspberries and
cherries this morning. They were so tasty!!
Princess was a little bit freaked out when Farmer Dad
climbed up into the tree to get to some really red cherries.
Naturally, we were eating them as fast as we were picking them.
Look at our happy little visitor, he brought friends too. ;-)

Cherries and Berries!

Farmer Dad and Princess just brought in the first Golden Raspberry and Cherries
of the year! Wow!! They were sooo good.
They went back out to pick the rest of the radishes (I think) and some lettuce
and then they will bring in some roses. It is hot right now, but not nearly as hot
as it was the last two days.We have two more tomato plants to put in the ground,
and Farmer Dad is heading up to the Community Plot to plant them- there is just so much sun there.What's edible in your garden today?
